
Last summer Ingerop and Rendel were awarded in association with Jacobs the engineering services of HS2 lot C1 to be built by ALIGN JV, a consortium of contractors led by Bouygues. The first phase of the UK high-speed rail is the extension of the network between London to Birmingham. Our integrated team is now fully operational in London.
This issue of the International Newsletter will focus on our major international projects currently undergoing in the infrastructure activity, ie HS2, the Bar-Boljare project in Montenegro, Padma Bridge in Bangladesh and the access road to Tema Port in Ghana. Such demanding projects in direct partnership with the contractors or the owners generate constant challenges for our teams of engineers, which we are proud to present hereafter.

HS2 Phase 1 is the expansion of the UK high-speed rail network between London, Euston Station and Birmingham, West Midlands. The ALIGN JV (a JV of Bouygues TP, VolkerFitzpatrick and Sir Robert McAlpine) was awarded the £965 million Chiltern Tunnels and Colne Valley Viaduct main civils contract (Lot C1), a key section of Phase 1.

A very visible milestone was reached on the Padma Bridge project in Bangladesh this week, when the first of the 41 spans was successfully installed on piers 37 and 38. The installation of the 150-metre long span (superstructure) took just two hours to be installed on the morning of 30 September 2017 and was witnessed by local dignitaries including Road Transport and Bridges Minister, Obaidul Quader.

Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) and Meridian Port Services (MPS) agreed to expand the existing Port of Tema. The expansion project includes a new port and container terminal and will require an improved road network that supports the growing traffic.

The Government of Ivory Coast, through the National Road Agency (AGEROUTE), has entered into the C2D programme with the French Development Agency to conduct the design and the rehabilitation of 1,000 km national paved road. INGEROP Conseil et Ingénierie in association with local partners are in charge of the design and supervision activities for a total duration of 17 months.
