Rendel has been awarded additional services on the padma multipurpose bridge project, as part of its role as management support consultant (msc)
Using experience gained from the Sheikh Zayed Bridge project, in Abu Dhabi, Rendel’s team proposed its client, the Bangladesh Bridge Authority, to carry out a design for a dehumidification system for the bridge truss members that could lead to significant long-term savings in future maintenance costs for the bridge, avoiding the need for internal maintenance painting. This study which has been accepted by the Client involves some modifications to the steel truss members during fabrication.

The key scope of work is to model the internal air circulation of the truss superstructure to identify and optimise modification to the steelwork to permit effective internal air circulation with the minimum number of fans and related equipment. A draft performance specification will be prepared for procurement of the necessary plant at a later stage.
