Extension of the Puerto Natales airport - Chile
The airport of Puerto Natales, located in the province of Última Esperanza, the southernmost part of Chilean Patagonia, sits in a protected bay against the backdrop of the Patagonian Andes. Inaugurated last December by the President of the Republic of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, the Puerto Natales airport is now fully under operation.

The extension of the airport designed and supervised by INGEROP-GHISOLFO is a strategic economic infrastructure for this remote region of the country.

The airport project included an expansion of the runway from 1,760 m long by 30 m large to 2,000 m by 45 m, an upgrade of the lighting system for visual operations on a 4C category airport and a significant increase in capacity passenger with a terminal extension.

LATAM and SKY Airline have announced that they will operate two weekly direct flights by Airbus A320 from Santiago, returning via Punta Arenas.

This development will not only improve transportation in  Patagonia but will also facilitate the access to one of the world’s greatest tourist attraction, the famous Torres del Paine National Park, named the fifth most beautiful place on earth by National Geographic.
