TESTIMONY

Yves Metz, President of Ingérop, Vice-President of Syntec Ingénierie, the professional federation of engineering companies will speak during the evening debate.

"Our company of 1,400 employees in France counts 31% of women, taking all employees together, and this rate falls to 24% within the technical teams. How to feminize our profession? We have a proof that more and more women are pursuing careers in the engineering professions and are moving into high-level positions to become company president or general manager of engineering school. We try to break the stereotypes about the profession of engineer and to value the purpose of our work, which consists in designing works of social utility, such as stations, dams...

With Syntec Ingénierie, we carry out a number of communication actions for high school students and engineering schools. But in these schools, it is almost too late: girls make up not only 15 to 30% of the students, but 41% of the students in its final year are girls!"
